Sarah Roads
Founder/ CEO

After 12 years of working for other people within recruitment for the marine sector,  I decided to set up on my own giving me the flexibility I needed around my family life. I knew that supplying contractors within the Industrial and Marine sectors was where my passion and expertise was best served and knew I could provide a professional, people centred service that provided solutions for clients and candidates alike.

Operations Director

Ihave recently joined SLR as the Operations Director. With over 17 years’ experience in the recruitment industry, I have worked on the agency side, internal and for large MSP and RPO contracts. I have experience covering sectors including Defence, Aerospace, Security, Construction, HR and Education. I am very excited to explore the Maritime and Energy industry as they link so well; Historically, I have led large teams of professional recruitment consultants and account managers and driven £million projects.

I am very proud to join SLR, their USP and the way they work fits well with me. I am all about transparency, clear communication and excellent service delivery. I work collaboratively with clients, offering support with their hiring and recruitment processes and provide clear market intel.

After many years working as a hairdresser, I joined the SLR family in 2022 and got the work life balance I craved. I have fallen in love with recruitment and all aspects of the marine industry which is varied and exciting. As a resourcer for the team, I love the flexibility of my role, the camaraderie and the endless opportunities for growth. My experience in talking to my hairdressing clients has helped me connect with our candidates and clients.

My career started off like Sarah’s, on the water. I was a professional dancer on cruise ships sailing all over the world until I met Sarah 3 years ago. Her passion for recruitment and how she runs her business had me hooked. My love for recruitment has grown along with my confidence and personal growth. The flexibility of my role has allowed me to teach fitness outside of SLR and I am so grateful for this.
